It will provide personalized patient response to a database of their demographics, medications, daily food intake, clinical symptoms and disease course, and provide a record of diet variables based on nearly 650 recipes. of Indian cuisine.
This telenutrition tool is a pioneering initiative undertaken by ICMR Center for Advanced Research and Excellence (CARE) in Bowel Diseases with Dr. Vineet Ahuja, Professor of Gastroenterology, AIIMS, New Delhi as Principal Investigator for transforming bowel disease research and clinical practice in India.
The ICMR had commissioned, in 2019, a multidisciplinary CARE project in intestinal diseases with a team of researchers from various fields, including gastroenterologists, dieticians and application developers, to develop a culturally , educationally and linguistically relevant. IBD NutriCare app is available in eight Indian languages such as Hindi, English, Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali covering major geographical regions of India.

IBD is characterized by chronic noninfectious inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract and primarily includes Crohn’s disease which can affect any segment of the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the anus, ulcerative colitis which is limited to colonic mucosa and indeterminate colitis.
